How long will a rug last?



A quality rug is an important artistic element in any room, and picking the right rug can make a difference to how long the rug will last. If you buy just any rug at a discount store, rug replacement cost will likely be relatively inexpensive, but the rugs themselves will not last very long.  Buying a fine rug is a different matter, and if you want quality, you need to know how to shop.

Before you set out to buy a rug, consider where you want to place it. Will it hang on the wall as a tapestry, in your bedroom, or go where it will see frequent traffic near kitchen and hallways. What is the proper size for each room since it has a design impact on the overall look of any space?

Once you have a general idea of what you want, go to a reputable rug dealer in order to choose the rug you want. There are several questions you will want to ask to assure you are getting a rug that is made well and made ethically. A good rug dealer will be knowledgeable about the rugs they sell, and will provide guidance without being pushy.

Using Household Cleaning Products Can Be as Bad as Smoking a Pack a Day   By Hallie Detrick A 20-year longitudinal study conducted by scientists at the University of Bergen in Norway has found that using cleaning products can be as harmful as smoking 20 cigarettes a day. The European Community Respiratory Health Survey aimed to find out more about the long-term effects of using cleaning products. The study looked at lung function in 6,230 participants in 22 locations around the world. Participants answered questions about how often they used cleaning products and had their lung function measured. The study found that women responsible for cleaning at home or professionally suffered a more rapid decline than women who were not responsible for cleaning.
